The Wedge Asia is a leading platform that gathers conscious people from around the world to connect, be inspired, gain knowledge and take action. Having interned with this company for two months, attending their monthly event this week was nostalgic, eye-opening, and nothing short of what I expected it to be.
The event was kickstarted with the screening of What the Health- a documentary that debunked several food myths, and revealed the harsh truths of the impact of meat and dairy on our health, making it an insightful watch into how to make the right food choices. This was followed by a panel discussion with four green health warriors who spoke about their respective journeys and what triggered them to switch to plant-based diets, and a short Q&A session moderated by Stephanie Dickson- Founder of The Wedge Asia and Green Is The New Black.
These are some of the key takeaway messages from the panel discussion (as mentioned on the event’s Action Sheet)-
Rebecca Cappelli- Speaker at Let Us Be Heroes & Volunteer at Animal Allies Singapore
We are facing big challenges and we need heroes more than ever. Everyone can be a hero and step up to be their greatest version, contribute to saving the planet and protect animals with just one lifestyle choice.
Sharmilah Begum Mehmood- Founder of Big Is Gorgeous
At the end of the day every choice requires effort. So chose the choices that serve you a positive purpose so that it is worth the effort.
John Garrido- Regional Director Asia at Virgin Pulse
Increase your curiosity about the connection between good health, meat and dairy and be open to the possibility that eliminating these things can have big impacts on your health.
Luke Tan- Founder at Live Green Live Lean
1. Ask why: Figure out why making a transition to a pant-based diet is important to you.
2. Add rather than subtract: Rather than focusing on eliminating animal products, start adding more plant-based whole foods.
3. Connect: Reach for support and connect with likeminded people.
Stay tuned. Stay inspired.
