Exploring Content Creation

I’ve been listening to a new weekly podcast called ‘The Health Code’ that surrounds the topics of career, lifestyle and relationships. An interesting point that I picked up from last week’s podcast is the importance of having a side hustle. A side hustle is the perfect way to break the monotony and pursue what you are truly passionate about on the side. Mine was easy to understand with one glance at my Youtube feed- videos on nutrition, fitness and fashion.

Curly and Confetti is the Instagram account that I set up to display my work and I hit a roadblock after 19 posts since it didn’t have a particular structure of content or topics- making me eventually run out of things to post about. My lecturer and mentor advised me to use my analytical skills and knowledge about marketing to go about planning my Instagram content to make it more organised (like the hashtags to use etc). She made me benchmark Instagram accounts and make Pinterest boards filled with visuals that appeal to me.

I have always wanted to explore content creation and what better way to start than testing it out on my own content. I would like to play around with photography and layouts and see where the page takes me. The page will authentically communicate my take on a healthy lifestyle and fashion and will be stand alone. I am not going to post on Youtube, or write elaborate blogs about any of my topics, but will instead condense everything on my Instagram page where the videos, pictures and captions will be easily understandable and ready to absorb by the viewers.

This side hustle is something I can stick to for a long time and is something I am truly passionate about and will give me a platform to direct my energy and efforts towards other than my full-time job.
