It’s hard to distinguish Singaporean fashion from its western influences and so I jumped at the opportunity of attending the Singapore Fashion Week (replied to my teacher’s first come first serve toned email saying “pleaseeeee put my name in”) to help me close this chapter once and for all.

The Asia Fashion Designers Showcase show took place at the National Gallery and highlighted some of the best designers from around the region. Fashion labels such as Zin Kato from Japan, Vienique from Korea, Steffy De Mylo, Parrel Pimentel and Albert Andrada from the Philippines showcased their latest collections in a multi-label show presenting their vastly unique styles. Steffy De Mylo showcased her collection for the romantic yet powerful woman by juxtaposing flowy fabrics with strong silhouettes, Mimi Parrel Pimental displayed workwear doused in lace for an ultra feminine touch. Vienique presented French modern-chic, while Albert Andrada- celebrated Filipino couturier who has dressed the likes of Miss Universe 2016 Pia Wurtzbach and American Celebrity Paris Hilton, showed his collection of opulent gowns that got me thinking of Vera Wang. Zin Kato’s surreal and elegantly dark Japanese-inspired designs served as a memorable closing. Stay tuned. Stay inspired.
