Why I decided to make my portfolio on social media

I attended a conference last month where the editors of leading fashion and lifestyle publishing houses in Singapore unpacked the future and relevance of digital marketing with respect to the print industry, and also revealed the importance of the interviewee’s social media in the hiring process.

This conversation really urged me to finally create a separate platform on Instagram for my fashion related work after months of being skeptical. My main fear about making a public account was the thought of having strangers browse through my pictures and viewing my live story updates- surrendering my last shred of privacy on the internet.

However, 2018 is the year I’m going to take risks and creating “curly and confetti” was the first step. The plan is to share completely unadulterated content (I even mentioned how I failed at using a menstrual cup in one of my captions) related to fashion, fitness and my lifestyle.

What I want to achieve through this page?

I want to work on improving my photography skills, be able to write succinct and catchy caption, and be motivated to keep generating content to become adept at using Instagram. This will not only serve as a creative outlet for me but also help me with my career when I have to dabble into social media marketing.

Stay tuned. Stay inspired.
