I have been TGIFing hard this term more than ever before because my college schedule wraps up on Thursdays leaving me with a long weekend (for the next 2 months!!). Since I’m not much of a wild child (albeit I believe I’m wild in my own ways), I spend these three precious days working on my assignments for the next week, rewarding myself with good food and recuperating with the help of Netflix. This Friday was slightly different; I was scheduled to meet Joji Jacob, the creative director and co-founder of an advertising agency BLK J. This is how it went.

Friday, 9 AM: *ALARM RINGS* I turned it off and set another alarm for 9 30 AM.
10 AM: Finally got out of bed. Made my ritualistic warm lemon water and plopped myself in front of the laptop to watch something positive to start my day which (obviously) ended up being an interview of Karan Johar since I’m going through a major Bollywood phase (I’ve approximately covered “The Making of” of 15 movies over the last week).
11 AM: Prepared a frittata and PB sandwich. I was on call with my mother while eating it and then cut the call because I started panicking for bring unprepared for the meeting.
11 50 AM: I browsed through the website of BLK J, studied every page in detail while making mental notes especially their portfolio. Then went on to read online articles published about the company and Mr Joji himself. I realised I needed to go back to the basics and googled “the different departments in an advertising agency” and formulated an answer in my head if he asked me which one I want to work in-IF the conversation even went in that direction.
1 PM: Ate lunch while watching Reign (another phase I’m going through) 2 40 PM: Booked my Uber 3 05 PM: Uber dropped me off at the wrong location
3 07 PM: Booked another Uber and got the same driver who finally took me to the right location. Stress-texted Mr Joji apologising for running late.
3 20 PM: My Joji took me into a conference room in the co-working space his team was operating from and we began talking about my course, his career and the intersection between my course and his career. He asked me which department in advertising I could see myself fitting into (5 brownie points to me) and offered to connect me to other agencies and an internship at his own when I’m ready.
4 PM: I called my mother and gave her what felt like a a vocal minutes of the meeting. 6 PM: Went to the gym. 8 PM: Ate my dinner followed by a hot chocolate while watching an interview with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
